Stampede Tour - On the Road posted by Dakota Livesay

This past weekend we were a part of the Wild Western Festival in Phoenix. And boy was it hot.

During the event Dakota had conversations with early TV stars. The first picture shows him talking to stuntman Whitey Hughes and western TV star John Locke.

The second is Dakota clowning with Gabby Hayes look-alike Rob Doudell and his wife Jo. Rob not only looks exactly like Gabby, he also talks like him.

Over the last weekend we attended the Big Bear Cowboy Gathering in Big Bear Lake, CA. Dakota interviewed the entertainers following their performance, in front of their audience.

The weekend’s headliner was Red Steagall. Although Red arrived just before his evening performance and left early the next morning, Dakota was able to set up a conversation with him before his performance. It will be aired on a future weekly show.

We’re presently in Southern California visiting our children and grandchildren, as well as getting ready to go to the Big Bear Cowboy Poetry Festival.

We got to see our five year old granddaughter in her first soccer game. She scored five goals…Got here athletic ability from her grandfather.

But, she’s still all girl. The second picture of Quinn shows her after the game. She’s checking to make sure her manicure hasn’t been ruined.

We recently spent a couple of days in Williams, Arizona visiting Wild West Junction to see their new John Wayne memorabilia display.

That’s Bill Brooks with Dakota. Bill was responsible for bringing the display to Wild West Junction.

Learned something interesting. John Wayne, who was 6’ 4” tall wore a size nine shoe. Because John would look funny in a movie with such small feet, they put size twelve boots on him, and stuffed them with tissue paper.

We’ve run into some problems with Monte. In our last skirmish with Indians (see picture below), one of the front jack legs broke. This was while we were in Show Low. Dakota tried to repair it, but, what at first seemed to be success, failed.

Although our plans were to head to Anaheim, California, we had to limp over to Prescott, Arizona where there is a great RV repair person…Larry Williams. Even though it was Saturday, Larry came over. Unfortunately, he has to order parts. Fortunately, we’re not under a tight schedule.

We can think of a lot worse places to be stuck than Prescott.
