When we go on walks, if we’re in a position to have Jake off his lead, we’re usually throwing sticks, and Jake is retrieving. Quite often Jake finds the sticks he wants us to throw…One might just think that Jake is an over-achiever.

Dakota headed up to Holbrook, AZ and spent a couple of hours on air at radio station KZUA. The daily show is aired each morning at 8 AM on a program hosted by the Chicks on Route 66.

We’ve spent the last few days working on the daily shows for November, as well as the November newspaper. The shows are in the mail and the paper is done. So, it’s party time. Dakota may even take everyone somewhere for lunch to celebrate…Maybe McDonalds or Burger King. Dakota spares no expense for his staff’s parties.

We’ve gotten a number of pictures of people reading Chronicle of the Old West from all over the place. We’ll have pictures soon.

Looks like we’ll be spending another week in Show Low, AZ. As far as we’re concerned, the fall of the year up here is the most beautiful time of the year…as compared to almost anywhere. The colors are turning, the sky is blue and the air brisk.

The pictures are what we see each morning and evening when we take a walk.

I can assure you we will be leaving at the end of next week. We checked Monty (our 5th wheel RV), the wheels are starting to grow roots.

Had a great weekend in Phoenix attending the first Wild West History Association board meeting. This is a new organization that has been created by combining two organizations that have been around a number of years…NOLA and WOLA.

WWHA promises to become the premiere organization when it comes to researching and dispensing information about the history of our American West.

We’ve headed down to Phoenix, without Monty. We’re attending a board meeting for the Wild West History Association. Dakota is a member of the board.

The Wild West History Association is the uniting of the National Outlaw-Lawman Association and the Western Outlaw-Lawman Association. Wild West History Assoc will officially be in existence effective January 1, 2008. I can assure you that this organization will be doing some great things in the field of the Old West.

We’ve been getting physicals. This includes Dakota, Sunny, Jake, and Hoss (our one-ton Dodge truck). Monty (our Montana fifth-wheel) has one coming up in a few days. Everyone’s receiving a clean bill of health.

For a couple of days the campground where we’re staying was taken over by demons from the valley. One of the year around school cycles in Phoenix had a few day’s break, and a number of parents brought their families to the mountains. We had seven to ten year olds all over the place. And they were exercising their bodies and lungs. Yesterday they left, and things are quiet once again. I do think I’ll miss the energy and excitement they brought to the place.

We’re on our way from Phoenix up to Show Low, AZ, the location of our base operation. This is the first time we’ve been in Show Low since last year about this time.

While at the Wild West Festival last weekend, Julia An took some pictures of one of the conversations I had with a couple of Dutch oven people for our weekly show. I thought I would pass one of pictures on to you so you’ll get an idea of the studio conditions in which the show is produced.

We’re still in north Phoenix, surrounded by desert. This morning we heard a whooshing sound as if someone were blow torching the area. When we looked outside there were a couple of balloons…So, now we have to worry about planes, trains, automobiles and hot air balloons.

We spent the weekend at Wild West Festival at Pioneer Town in Phoenix, AZ. It was quite warm. But we had a lot of fun, and it was a successful event.

Our booth was right next to one of the stages. The first picture is of Buck Montgomery and his gang of outlaws in a shootout. The second picture is of Kowboy Kal rounding up a bunch of strays.
