Yesterday we had a rather exciting day. While traveling from Yuma, AZ through Southern California on our way to Monterey, CA, we decided to take a shortcut through the mountains to check out an RV park. This was without a doubt the narrowest and windiest road we’ve been on with our rig. I believe a couple of times Sunny could have reached out the window of Hoss and touched Monte.
One time, as we made a turn, the wheels on one side of Monte went off the road, and there was no apron. Monte jumped around a bit, but stayed on the road. The first thing Sunny said was, “I can just imagine the mess that that created inside Monte.”
When we got to our destination and looked inside Monte, it seemed as if everything in every cabinet was on the floor…including a couple of broken dishes.
Dakota wanted to take pictures of the mess, but Sunny wouldn’t allow them to be taken.

We’re presently in Yuma, Arizona, taking our time as we head up to Monterey, California…We need to be there on December 5.
Yuma has really grown into a bustling city…at least during the winter. During the summer only the hard cases stick around. It is hot.
For people who don’t believe there is anything good about the desert, here are a couple of pictures that shows the evening view the residents get.

While in Tombstone Dakota did an Internet TV show with host Terry “Ike” Clanton. The show was pre-recorded for airing Tuesday, November 27. The time is 7:00 pm Pacific – 10:00 Eastern. Go to HauntedSaloon.com. You will need high-speed Internet access to get the picture.

I’m not quite sure who the person is in the second picture. The horse is a palomino, so it may be Roy Rogers.

We spent the end of last week and the weekend in Tombstone, Arizona Territory. We were attending the combined Western History Symposium and Ike Clanton Days. The event is one we’ve attended for the last six years. This is the first year it has been in conjunction with Ike Clanton Days. The driving force behind Clanton Days is Terry “Ike” Clanton, the great-grand nephew of the original Ike Clanton from the O.K. Corral Shootout.
The first picture is of Dakota and Bob McCubbin at the opening evening party. Bob McCubbin is the new president of the Wild West History Association and the country’s premier collector of Old West pictures and books.
The second picture is Dakota making an introduction on the opening day of the event.

We're in Benson, Arizona. Over the weekend we went to a craft show at a nearby Catholic Monastery. Sunny went away disappointed because every time she wanted some decorative piece Dakota asked her where she’s planning on putting it. There’s not much space for knick-knacks in Monty.
The cross is the center of the monastery, and stands well above the trees. It can be seen for miles around.

Many people have golf carts to travel in around the park, but not our friend Mike Allen. He even let Dakota sit in his transportation. I’m not sure what year it is, but it sure is the hit of the park.

We’ve been receiving a number of pictures of Chronicle of the Old West readers perusing the newspaper at various locations. Here are two such pictures.
The first is of friend Mary Ciefers, who is a mounted cowboy shooter,
and her mule, Rojo. She's from Kingman, AZ.

The second picture is Roger Eads, co-owner of Buckaroo Bobbins,
from Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Very soon we’ll be adding another page on our web site that will feature these pictures.

Upon leaving Show Low, AZ we traveled three hours, and what seems a continent away. Before we were at 6,500 feet altitude among ponderosa pines and oak trees. Now, we’re in the desert at about 1,500 feet. Outside are teddy bear and saguaro cacti.
Squirrels have been replaced by cactus wren, and elk have been replaced by coyote. However, as you can see by the picture, sunsets are the same.
Another thing that’s the same, Jake still chooses the biggest sticks around for us to throw.
We’re now head to Benson and Tombstone, AZ.
