We’re presently at Winter Range in Phoenix, AZ. Winter Range is the Single Action Shooting Society’s National Championships.
If you enjoy see Old West costumes and having fun, this is a great place to attend.

The pictures are of a strolling cowboy musical group (above) and our friends Roger and Geneva Eads with Buckaroo Bobbins (below).

In our last entry we talked about leaving Benson, AZ for a spell. With the way we make decisions, we may be diverted in another direction and not come back for a while. So, we thought we would put up a couple of pictures with some of our friends. For some of you, they might look like a bunch of old farts. But I can tell you they are some neat people.

They’re often called “snow birds.” But they are actually senior citizens who are just too active and vital to stick around one place all year.

In a week we’ll be leaving Benson, AZ to head up to Phoenix to attend Winter Range, the SASS National Championships. Then we’ll go to the L. A. area to visit our kids and Jim and Jodi MacGregor, a regular on our weekly show. After that, we’ll return to Phoenix to be a part of Festival of the West.
This means that in the next week we’ll need to finish our daily radio show, get the March issue of Chronicle of the Old West ready to go to press and do two weekly radio shows.
The tough part is working this into our Cochise Terrace social life. We have a Wednesday dinner, Friday donuts and coffee, Saturday breakfast and Saturday evening entertainment. Then we have church on Sunday.
Something has got to give, but surely not our social life.

Yesterday afternoon, just in time to attend the weekly potluck, we got back from Texas.
This morning when we got up, there was more than an inch of snow on the ground, and it is still coming down. When Dakota and Jake went for their morning walk, Dakota endured, and Jake had a ball.

Incidentally, at yesterday evening’s potluck a friend said she was going to the Tucson airport to pick up a friend who was flying in from Wisconsin to get away from the snow and cold. Sorry friend!

We’re presently on a trip to San Antonio, Texas for a Wild West History Association board meeting. Dakota is the vice-president. Someone said he was the president of vice. I don’t know about that. Do visit their web site www.WildWestHistory.org.
We spent a couple of days in Ft. Stockton, Texas. They’re in the process of celebrating their sesquicentennial…that’s 150 years for you cowboys. The fort has several restored officer’s quarters. One is even currently inhabited. We got a tour of it. Fantastic! They also have a great museum.

If you’re ever in the area, you should stop by and experience the area’s history.
