Over the last three days we’ve been doing some traveling. While in Fredericksburg, TX we went to KNAF, and had a meeting with our affiliate there. Then we started back to El Paso. On the way we stopped by Junction, TX and recorded a segment with our station there. The next day we headed over to Sonora, TX and did a live show with the KHOS morning team. The picture is of the KHOS people.

Then we spent the night at Ft. Stockton, and the next morning stopped by KFST…our station there. We also visited Circle G Western Wear. They sponsor our daily show on KFST. Then, yesterday we arrived in El Paso. Tomorrow we head out for Arizona.

Sometimes what we do is a bit hectic, but it sure beats waking up in the morning trying to think of something to do for the day.

We’ve spent the last couple of days in Fredericksburg, TX. This is an absolutely beautiful town with a German ancestry. KNAF here in Fredericksburg carries our daily show. KNAF is a station that’s been in the same family since the 1940’s.

Just one example of the great architecture of the town is the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. We had an enjoyable time attending it last Sunday.

We’re presently in Austin, Texas. The last part of the second week and the first part of the third week of each month is a triple witching time for us. And that’s why you’ll note a void in Stampede Tour entries during this time.

This is the time of the month when we wrap up, duplicate and mail out the daily shows for the following month. We’re also deep into finishing up the following month’s Chronicle of the Old West newspaper. And there is that week’s hour show that needs to be put together and mailed out…We also have to start putting things together for next month’s web site changes.

Tired Dakota

We’re almost done with most of the items, and will be getting back to our normal 12 hour work day soon, and get a chance to charge our batteries.

We spent yesterday evening with world class poker player Scotty Nguyen. He's in Tulsa for a poker tournament at the Cherokee Casino. We were taken to see him by Gordon Eaton, Sidekick #1.

Scotty is truly an interesting guy. He was born in Viet Nam and came to the United States as a teenager. On his first trip to Las Vegas he got a job as a busboy. In less than a year he became a millionaire playing poker.

I've played some cards during my lifetime. So, I challenged Scotty to a game of Texas poker. As the pictures show, I just may have had him scared.

After we were done he said that if I continue practicing, in no time I may be able to beat his one-year-old son Cody.

We’re presently in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and are staying at an RV park on the north end of Tulsa. On Friday evening we had to go into downtown Tulsa for a dinner meeting. Before leaving we Googled the address of the hotel where the meeting was to take place and printed out the directions. On the way there we made one wrong turn and ended up on a toll road that added a half hour to our trip and made us late for the meeting. We even had a problem getting home.

It wasn’t the first time we have gotten lost over the last year and a half of traveling the West, but this was the most frustrating. So, we held a board of directors meeting and decided that the frustration and tension in being lost was too high a cost. So, yesterday we bought a Garmin GPS. We spent a little more that we had planned, but it was worth it. Yesterday afternoon we used it, and had a ball.

The GPS has a woman’s voice that tells us what to do. We named her “mom”, because that’s what our moms always did…tell us what to do.

We’re in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We’re here for the Wild West History Association’s board meeting. Dakota’s the vice president of the organization.

We’ll be sticking around for a few days to see some of the Old West sites and visit Coffeeville, Kansas where KGGF plays our radio shows.

We’re staying at the Tulsa KOA. This is probably the most dreary RV park in which we stayed. And, we’re only about fifty yards from a freeway. At least it makes one appreciate some of the other places where we’ve stayed.

We’ve traveled from Arlington, Texas to Durant, Oklahoma. The Arlington RV park was a very nice one, located just a mile or two from every chain store and restaurant one could think of.

We’re in Durant to visit our friends Carl and Lou Ann Hooser. Carl works for the Choctaw Nation.

The RV park is a nice one with nothing around for a mile or two. The picture is our view out the window of Monte. I’m planning on recording the daily shows for March…that is if the cows don’t make to much noise with their mooing.
