THE COWBOY'S BEST STORY
According to legend, and that's just what this story might be... legend, back in 1869 Dakota's great, great grandfather, Earl Young was a partner in a general store in Justin, Missouri. While Earl's partner was on a trip to St. Louis to get more merchandise, Nicholas Earp, the father of Wyatt, Morgan and Virgil, stopped by the store to get supplies during his short stint back east before returning to the West.
Nicholas talked in such glowing terms about the wonders of the West that that evening Earl talked to his wife, Gladys, about their going out West. They both agreed to sell their share of the general store and become pioneers.
Upon Earl's partner's return, they agreed on a selling price. But the partner didn't have enough cash, so they included merchandise. Part of this merchandise was three varieties of green coffee beans and a small roaster.
Because of space limitations, Earl poured all three coffees into one barrel. When they arrived in Red Rock, Wyoming, with a wagon of merchandise, and no general store in the area, Earl and Gladys decided to open one.
The constant jarring of the wagon had thoroughly mixed the beans. And, quite by accident, a miracle had happened. A blend of coffee had been created that cowboys in the area said was the best they had ever tasted. Word spread throughout Wyoming about this magical coffee.
From the records of the sale of the Missouri store, Earl knew the exact combination of the three coffee varieties. Unfortunately, less than a year after arriving in Red Rock Earl died and Gladys returned to Missouri.
In 2006, Dakota found a trunk that went back to the times of Earl and Gladys Young. In it, he found the paperwork for the sale of the Missouri general store. And, included in the paperwork was information on that magical blend of coffee.
One evening when friends, Rob and Opal Raven were over for dinner, Dakota told them the story. By the end of the evening, Dakota and Sunny were determined to duplicate that magical blend of coffee.
Fortunately, for coffee lovers everywhere, they were successful. And, the coffee that cowboys agreed was the best they ever tasted is now available to you under the brand name, Cowboy's Best.
